I have a question, my iphone was stolen during school and i have a lock on it so the thief cant get into it. I filed a report including my serial number, but they cant trace the phone unless it is tuned on. My question is, can i still trace my iphone if the thief turns it on but it asks for the password? Does that consider my phone to be 'on'?

Bummer about your phone and nice to see PoPo actually try to do something about it. My friend had tools stolen out of his garage in broad day light and saw the man doing it. He called the cops and pointed him out - cops just shrugged and said "what do you want us to do about it - do you have reciepts or any other proof of ownership?". LOL. That's justice system for you.

Here's a tip for iPhone purchase - buy a new one with a cheapest plan, keep it 31 days, cancel service. Pay early termination fee + monthly charges. That should be about $550... Or buy yours back on eBay :) sorry, that was bad.

Good luck

I know! It BUL-LOWS! I've had a phone in my pocket every day for at least 10 years. And the last 2.5 years it was an iPhone. I was without friday, saturday, sunday, and got my old-old iphone reactivated on Monday. For a minute I considered just seeing how long I could go without one, but it's just not practical these days.

GAH! That is freaking horrible. I think I would have a breakdown worrying about if the thief could find out your home address or other info wether they could hack the phone or not.
It could always have been worse, so luckily nothing happened to the family. However, I can't imagine you without a phone. That is crazy talk!

That's an excellent point Rob that I hadn't thought of. The thing is that Mobile Me does provide other tools and services that I use every day. Like Back to My Mac which allows me to easily access any of my computers from any of my other computers. Not just the files on there but actually be able to remote control the mouse and see the screen. It also provides a stable email address.

Very helpful and informative but in the end Mobile Me was not able to get the phone back so tough 4 me to justify the yearly fee until they upgrade the tracking service. Also, if you did not have the service that would be more money put towards a new phone you need to buy anyway. 2 years of MM is $200. That brings the price of the phone down a bunch.
