That particular year I WANTED them to so that they&#039;d be able to afford to buy me the computer.  But even with combining it wouldn&#039;t have been feasible.  In 1979 my parents probably made around $15,000 a year.  So a $600 computer would be about the same as a $10,000 gift today.  I&#039;d guess the bike was enough of a stretch and probably cost around $100 or $150 back then - which is why they were so excited about giving it to me. </description>
